Today concludes one challenging week for American traditionalists. The transfer of Executive power is complete, giving Democrats control of Congress and the White House.
That said, the majorities are so razor thin that some sources believe the internal divide in the Democratic Party will emerge and prevent major mistakes from taking place. President Biden, like his mentor and predecessor, will rely on Executive Orders to implement unpassable far-left agenda items. Here’s a quick link to all of his early executive orders.
LFF remains hopeful that a respectful unity may be found – where censorship and the cancel culture are rejected, and differing views are respected. 75 million Americans were clear in November that any radical, anti-America, anti-faith agenda brought by self-avowed socialists would be resisted. Any desired unity is contingent upon understanding these terms!
Here’s a rundown of the items the far-left is pressing Biden to embrace:
Federal funding for abortion in foreign countries
Biden will reportedly issue an executive order reversing the Mexico City policy, which prevents U.S. aid from funding groups that perform or promote abortion around the globe.
Federal funding of abortion by eliminating the Hyde Amendment
Biden has flipped on this issue. Democrats in Congress promise to end the Hyde amendment. It is unlikely that he will oppose them, as his stand on protecting the unborn has drifted from his Catholic faith.
Expand election legislation
HR 1 is designed to destroy the existing U.S. election system and replace it with automatic voter registration, same day voter registration, expanded early and mail-in voting, and would prevent voter rolls from being validated for accuracy. Election integrity would disappear. Charities would be forced to disclose donor information.
Statehood for Washington, D.C.
Through HR1, Congress would signal intent to deliver statehood to Washington, D.C. This would be an attempt by the left to take permanent control of Congress. The founders clearly intended the seat of federal government to be independent of any single state. This move, if eventually successful, would also add two more Democratic U.S. Senators to the body.
Forced Passage of the Equality Act
President Biden has already signed an executive order on this topic, but the Equality Act would place in federal law that would allow biological men to compete in girl’s/women’s sports, enter private facilities designated for women, such as showers, locker rooms, and restrooms.
Supreme Court & Other Federal Judicial Appointments
Justice Steven Breyer, 82, is facing pressured to retire so President Biden can replace him with a younger judge. Many Democrat appointees to the bench will likely retire now that the White House has been returned to Democrat hands. We anticipate those in power will try to use the federal courts to reverse Trump-era policies as well.
Re-Entry in the Iran Nuclear Deal
Biden Press Secretary Jen Psaki on Wednesday revealed that Biden wants a version of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), also known as the Iran Nuclear Deal, back in place. This is a massive threat to American ally Israel.
Moratorium on Oil & Gas
Biden has already halted oil & gas permits and leases on federal lands and waters, including the Gulf of Mexico. This will hurt the already troubled Louisiana economy. He has also revoked the permit for the Keystone XL Pipeline, meaning higher gas prices and fewer jobs.
Re-Enter the Paris Climate Accord
The Biden Administration plans to re-enter the Paris Climate Accord, which creates unreasonable environmental standards designed to force the American energy industry to transition away from oil and gas. This will negatively impact Louisiana’s economy.
Student Loan forgiveness
President Biden campaigned on a platform that included ambitious changes to higher education as well as relief for student loan borrowers. On Biden's first day in office, he extended the student loan payment pause through Sept. 30, 2021.
Obviously, Articles of Impeachment are the first order of “unity” expected in the U.S. Senate – as early as today!
LFF will pray for those in power. We will not allow those in power to prey upon our essential liberties, or the faith or family communities. We will hold them accountable for failing to govern in a way compatible with America’s founding documents.
LFF’s status as Watchman on the Wall has been renewed, and we’ll keep you up to date on the latest from Washington, D.C. and across the nation.
Thank you for your continued support of LFF’s work to preserve faith, family, and freedom.
