January 25, 2019 Friends, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo wasted no time signing a radical pro-abortion bill into law Tuesday, symbolically celebrating the 46th anniversary of Roe vs. Wade! At the moment of passage, Karen DeWitt of New York State Public Radio reported that someone shouted, "May Almighty God have mercy on this state." This legislation goes way beyond Roe, allowing late-term abortions, removing born-alive protections, allowing non-doctors to perform abortions, as well as removing all feticide projections formerly provided. The bill adds a broad "health" exception for abortions after twenty-four weeks. The exception would allow women to abort unborn babies up to nine months of pregnancy for "age, economic, social and emotional factors, rather than the biological definition of 'health' that normally comes to mind," according to New York Right to Life. Louisiana law is not affected by this legislation, but it shows the extreme agenda that could endanger our pro-life protections if a pro-abortion President were to appoint pro-abortion Supreme Court Justices. ACTION ITEM: Pray for our President, Congress, and U.S. Supreme Court Justices. Thankfully, Louisiana is ranked in the top three pro-life states in the U.S. One day, we will see an abortion-free Louisiana and America! We must advance a legacy of respect for life from conception all the way to natural death. LFF proudly co-sponsors the Louisiana Life March Saturday in Shreveport and Baton Rouge, Sunday in Monroe, and next Saturday in Pineville. |
