Dear Friend,

Today, we celebrate the homegoing of an extraordinary man who had a great passion for advancing the cause of Christ, our state, his fellow man and an untiring love for the ministry of Louisiana Family Forum. Ed Blasi, a consummate learner and a pillar to me for over 25 years, thank you my friend…you have been a breath of fresh air. To the Blasi family: our thoughts and prayers. RIP, Ed.

This week, the U.S. Senate voted very narrowly to confirm a “transgendered,” biological man, to a federal cabinet position. This is of enormous concern, especially considering this individual is now authorized to oversee a large part of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services – an organization committed to the mental and physical standards governing the health of citizens.

Dr. Levine, who was born Richard Levine, and is the same nominee who refused to answer Sen. Rand Paul’s questions about whether or not he thought it appropriate to allow children to “transition genders.” Many perceived the dodging of the question to be confirmation that the U.S. government, under Levine’s direction, will encourage procedures which block children’s hormones and surgically manipulate their genitals.

The vote to confirm Levine was partisan, with only Republican Senators Susan Collins of Maine and Lisa Murkowski of Alaska joining the 50 Democrats.

What does this mean for our nation, that elected officials elevate an individual so clearly confused to oversee a significant department of government? Science is no longer a teacher and standard, but has become a tool to ‘reconstruct and rearrange’ those who hold deep personal disagreements with God!

LFF expects this development to signal a battle ahead – one where the federal government aggressively pursues gender altering procedures for children, advocates for these procedures in government schools, keeps parents in the dark, and pays from the public treasury these closed-door procedures with taxpayer dollars. We will be monitoring this new reality for any concerning elements and stand ready to defend your children here in Louisiana.

There are several other important items as you head into the weekend:

Attorney General Jeff Landry has filed a lawsuit against the Biden Administration, leading a 13-state charge to halt the Administration's assault on oil and gas, and protect the tens of thousands of jobs it threatens. Thank you, AG Landry!

The Biden Administration is considering a major tax hike to corporate and individual rates in order to pay for their enormous spending plans. Elections have consequences, and this one has proven very consequential.

The Center for Reproductive Rights, a radical abortion organization, has filed a request for reimbursement from the State of Louisiana for more than $8.6 million they say they incurred in attorneys’ fees. Louisiana should not be penalized for defending women’s health.

Less than a week after the U.S. Senate approved Xavier Becerra to head the Department of Health and Human Services, the Biden Administration will undo Trump’s “Protect Life” rule, restoring Title X funding to abortion providers.

Friends, we’re witnessing the first wave of assaults on the American family. Foolish efforts to promote a dark ideology – forced upon the nation under the guise of choice, non-discrimination, and individuality. Our country has never seen such immoral proposals.

LFF was honored to host 40+ pastors and Christian leaders in Slidell at Grace Memorial Baptist Church yesterday to brief leaders on key battles expected in the upcoming Legislative Session. Special thanks to Pastor Jerry Smith and Morris St. Angelo for hosting Team LFF.

LFF is standing guard, alongside many other committed conservatives, watching closely to set up necessary defenses in our state so that politicians from New York and California don’t get to decide what direction Louisiana takes. But we need your help. Please click here to pitch in so we have the resources we need to WIN and to keep Louisiana a great place for families.

Thank you for your loyal support of LFF!

In His Service,

Gene Mills
