2018 LFF Leadership Academy Graduates Visit the Louisiana State Capitol!

June 8, 2018

After months of planning, LFF's Leadership Academy has come and gone in what seemed like moments! Lives were truly changed! Please enjoy this first-hand report from Team LFF member and Academy Director, Mrs. Nicole Johnson!

2018 Leadership Academy Graduates 45!

On our first night, we heard from Abraham Hamilton III, General Counsel for the American Family Association, who kicked off with the memory of how he got from where the Academy participants were sitting to syndication on 290 AFR stations across America, speaking to 3 million people every day. Our first full day was packed, beginning with a message from Audrea Taylor, (founder of im2moro and coauthor with Jim Garlow of "Well Versed") on a Christian Worldview. With that understanding, Academy students proceeded to the Capitol where we were instructed by many officials, including Senate President Pro Tempore Gerald Long, Senators Jonathan Perry, Beth Mizell, Rick Ward, and Ryan Gatti, and also Representative Beryl Amedee and former Leadership Academy graduate Jack McAdams. After participating in a press conference with Rep. Rick Edmonds celebrating the signing of two adoption bills, we were entertained with a personal tour of the Capitol from former Sen. Dan Richey.

We returned to Bethany's beautiful Timothy Retreat Center and continued learning from Mrs. Taylor about politics, government, and how Christians should be involved. Our last night together was filled with ice cream, movies, games, and heart-to-heart conversations that connected everyone with unforgettable bonds. We had a powerful devotional from LFF COO, Dale Hoffpauir, and a panel discussion including Elizabeth Demarest, author of "Kissing Toads," Nate Moore, business owner and LFF board member, and Alex Seghers, Youth Programs Director for Louisiana Right to Life.

This year's academy was filled with fast-paced, intense learning, but it was the slow moments that allowed friendships to blossom. One of our graduates put it like this, "It was incredible to see young, like-minded people gathering together to fellowship and grow in their knowledge and passion for making a difference in our society. I was encouraged by my classmates’ willingness to stand for Biblical Truth regardless of what the world defines as truth."

The only complaint was that our time together was just too short!

Over half of our students received a full sponsorship. We are eternally grateful for your support of this life-changing program.

"I am so grateful for the opportunity to be able to take part in this. I had no hope for my future until I came here. Thank you for providing me the hope I didn’t have."

"I have truly discovered myself during this academy and I am so thankful for you giving me that opportunity. During this training, I have learned how to pursue God’s calling on my life and how to love those I disagree with on policy."

One student posted on her Facebook photo with this caption:

"Mom, I have a new worldview!"

This Leadership Academy marks the beginning of a new journey for these young world-changers and we are so excited to be partners in their progress! On graduation day these bright young leaders truly saw how the concepts of a biblical worldview could be applied in every area of life. Stay tuned for more and a memorable image gallery soon!

Thank you for investing in this next generation!
