In an email to supporters this week, abortion giant Planned Parenthood began promotion for a website it created to illustrate the damage President Donald J. Trump has done to its cause. Here’s the headline: “No president in recent memory has done more to reshape the judiciary than Donald Trump.”
Planned Parenthood admits that it is losing. Under Trump, conservatives have reshaped the courts to reflect their original intent; life, liberty, and an originalist view of the U.S. Constitution.
While we have suffered some short-term setbacks (June Medical, Bostock) at SCOTUS, Planned Parenthood sees long-term trouble ahead for its deadly cause – and we should be thrilled and energized by that.
Consider this: The Trump Administration has already appointed more than 200 lietime federal judges. That’s far more than any of the last six presidents and represents almost 25% of all federal judgeships. Plus, since the beginning of his term, 58 meaningful abortion regulations have been passed at the state level.
While progress is slow, the light of truth terrifies the darkness in the abortion industry.
Planned Parenthood is particularly concerned that President Trump has been so successful with appointments to the Circuit Court level. “[The Circuit Courts are] where the Trump administration is building a lasting legacy,” they said, “by filling circuit courts at record pace with young, ultra‑conservative judges who will serve for a lifetime.”
One of these judges is Stuart Kyle Duncan, a longtime ally of LFF and treasured Louisiana judge.
Here’s the bottom line: Planned Parenthood is admitting that it is worried. While Planned Parenthood cheered the demise of Louisiana’s abortion regulation in June Medical Services v. Russo, it also expressed deep concern that Justices Gorsuch and Kavanaugh showed, by dissenting in the case, that they are unwilling to continue toeing the line for Roe v. Wade.
If Planned Parenthood is worried, our methods of success should continue with earnest.
As we approach the national election season, LFF needs your help to make sure the candidates Planned Parenthood attempts to boost to victory do not prevail in Louisiana.
This is part of good citizenship – doing our part to ensure that our advocacy accomplishes the mission we have: to be salt and light to the lost and hurting culture.
Please pray that our efforts and resources would be multiplied to meet the challenge, and that we would prevail over darkness, bringing candidates, agendas, and even the media under the scrutiny of light.
