Dear Friends,

Our team is out on the road traversing every corner of southeast Louisiana organizing relief efforts at numerous relief sites across the impact zone.  Click here for help near you!

Close to a million are still without power, many with limited or no water and hoping to be able to repair their damaged homes. The fuel supply is inadequate as eight refineries are still offline, as some discuss raiding the Strategic Reserves. Hurricane Ida claimed dozens of lives and has exposed numerous vulnerabilities.

Unlike previous water events, Ida was largely a wind event – badgering homes, businesses and trees from South to North and everywhere in between. The levees and infrastructure built after Katrina WORKED!!! That is significant. What no one anticipated was sustained winds at close to 125 mph, in some areas for 8 hours or longer!

Relief efforts are what the Church does intuitively...and so many good things are happening.

Some parishes are offering free meals this weekend, so please check this website for more information, and if able, send to those who may benefit from this!

Please also see the bottom of this email for Additional Resources for links on power outages, road closures, and where to find gas, if possible.

LFF Compassion - formerly PRC Compassion - has been the beneficiary of so much good will, relief items like generators, fuel and donations from individuals and organizations throughout the country. Keep those prayers, resources, and pretty soon, volunteer teams coming.

Please join me in a giant shout out for Mercy Chefs, Operation Blessing, Samaritan's Purse, Houston Responds, Convoy of Hope, Nazarene Relief, Southern Baptist Relief, City Impact, Association of Related Churches, Foursquare International, and so many others!

LFF stands ready to assist relief efforts and families through LFF Compassion. Your gifts, service or supply trucks are welcomed and appreciated!

We are working with past partners (forgive our communication limitations - my home is without power for another week, internet maybe longer), local churches, and public officials to provide reliable and updated information. We will provide these updates as soon as we are able to confirm their reliability and as good information becomes available.

Compassion efforts are limited to areas where critical infrastructure is restored, and roads have been cleared.

Response efforts are contingent upon safe passage, and sustainable relief sites.

If you are able, please prayerfully consider giving to LFF Compassion to directly help those in need!

Friends, we will get through this, by the grace of God!

The people of Louisiana are resilient!

May God bring your families peace, comfort, strength, and wisdom as we navigate the recovery process.

In His Service,

Gene Mills
