First of all, I would like to thank each and every one of you that joined us last night for LFF’s Night of Hope. In a little departure from our annual legislative awards banquet and gala, our goal this year was to simply come together to worship the Lord and to lift up those struggling with so many issues facing our state and nation, such as Hurricane Ida and the trail of heartbreak and difficulties related to COVID.
It was especially rejuvenating to assemble so many who have been working diligently to put Louisiana back on track after the hurricane!
Pastors, policymakers, and relief workers all gathered for grits and grillades, worship with the Bethany team, and encouragement from Rep. Rick Edmonds and his friends from the Louisiana legislature.
I was glad I was able to spend a few moments with our Legislative Family Advocates and Outstanding Family Advocates and thank them for their service to our state. You can check our Legislative Scorecard for more info on our award recipients.
We shared in prayer and true fellowship. Our wonderful speakers left us full of hope and courage.
Here is a pictorial journey through last night’s events. And if you weren’t able to join us, you can view our Night of Hope here.
Senator Beth Mizell, who authored the Fairness in Women's Sports Act, gave this unifying message:
We didn't get it done. But we're going try it again. We're going to try it again. And we're going to need your support again. So we're going to have to stand together. And I just want to thank you for that because we all felt you all having our back. It was an incredible blessing and it was a movement of God that I have never seen...to walk into the Hainkel room...and to see it full of pastors praying for a Godly leadership to happen to get those bills passed.
Then, Rep. Rick Edmonds, who did a fantastic job as our Master of Ceremonies, said what we were all thinking:
I don't believe we're here by accident or it's a coincidence. I believe in a sovereign God that places us at just the right place at just the right time with just the right Word, and the Word is hope for you and your families and your congregation and we will not be broken.
Thank you all for your generous support. The LFF family is blessed!
