In less than 96 hours, voters will flood into polling locations across America to make enormous choices – from leadership at the national level down to the local. And while early and by-mail voters have already set records, a large number of American votes are yet to be cast.
The media has been insistent that Joe Biden’s lead over Donald Trump is insurmountable, yet the national polls show otherwise. Robert Cahaly, one of the very few pollsters who predicted a Trump win over Hillary Clinton in 2016, says that the polls and media still aren’t taking into account what he calls the “social acceptability bias” – or how many “shy” Trump voters will exist as a result of the hostile environment created by the media and Hollywood?
Though many of them want to dispute the influence of the “silent majority,” they cannot help but to acknowledge that, in 2016, as many as 35% of people who voted for Donald Trump were unwilling to discuss it. Will that number grow on Tuesday and deliver Trump a second victory?
Regardless of what happens at the national level, Louisiana has several important items on the ballot.
Amendment #1, the Love Life Amendment, prepares our state for a world after Roe v. Wade, once the newly-aligned U.S. Supreme Court has an opportunity to overturn abortion protections from a bygone era. By removing the ability of judges to create a “right to abortion” under the La. Constitution, this Amendment will keep Louisiana on the right side of history on the issue of life.
Amendment #4 gives taxpayers an ability to keep their government’s spending in check by placing a cap on budget growth that is consistent with state revenues. I spoke about this last week with the Pelican Institute:
LFF recommends a YES vote on Amendments #1 and #4 on Tuesday, or on your absentee ballot.
If you haven’t already voted, you can vote this upcoming Tuesday, November 3rd. Polls open at 6 a.m. and will remain open until 9 p.m. Click here to find more information about voting locations in your parish.
And you can do more than just vote! Give your like-minded friends and neighbors a ride to the polls if they need one or make a phone call to make sure they’ve had a chance to vote!
We are praying and believing that God will deliver pro-life, pro-family victories on Tuesday. And when we see those victories, the real work will begin.
Thank you for playing your part in making Louisiana the greatest place to raise a family. Geaux vote!
