On Wednesday, June 30, 2021, at 5:30 p.m., the St. Tammany Parish Council will be debating and voting on Resolution C-6488. This resolution orders a parish-wide election to bring a riverboat/land-based casino to the Northshore of Lake Ponchartrain in close proximity to a residential neighborhood. We need your help now!
This vote continues the effort to bring a full-scale land-based casino to the shores of Lake Ponchartrain in St. Tammany Parish. It moves forward the effort begun with legislation offered by Sen. Sharon Hewitt and Rep. Mary Dubuisson, HB702 was signed into law by Gov. John Bel Edwards.
Out-of-state gambling interests are targeting a choice piece of real estate for yet another Louisiana casino – this time on St. Tammany’s Northshore in Slidell. The projected site is in close proximity to a residential neighborhood.
The proposed casino is a problem, not just for Slidell, but for the whole state. The company that is bankrolling the effort, Peninsula Pacific Entertainment (P2E), wants to operate this casino. This is the same company whose casino project in Bossier City went bankrupt – but only after it carried millions upon millions of dollars out of state.
There are many reasons every Louisianan should oppose this new casino proposal.
We need your voice to counter the bottomless pocketbooks of gambling interests promoting this new casino as they envision a future tremendous payoff from the not-so-bottomless pocketbooks of Louisiana citizens.
St. Tammany is a great place to live and work. Let's keep it that way!
