The Louisiana Blessing, the video released at last Thursday’s Legislative Awards Ceremony in Baton Rouge, has officially attained viral status, eclipsing more than 14,500 views in less than four days.
The unique musical video, which features hundreds of Louisiana’s finest singers, musicians, and prayer warriors singing blessings over our state, includes appearances from Governor John Bel and First Lady Donna Edwards, as well as dozens of pastors and faith leaders, elected officials, and courageous believers.
In case you missed Thursday’s event, you can watch the live stream here.
Following the death of former U.S. Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, President Trump announced the nomination of U.S. Circuit Court Judge Amy Coney Barrett to the Court. Barrett is a native of New Orleans and has deep family roots in Louisiana.
If her confirmation is approved, as is widely expected, she will become the third Supreme Court nominee installed by President Trump during his first term. U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham, chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, said confirmation hearings will begin the week of October 12th.
Legislators reconvened in Baton Rouge yesterday to begin a special session. The purpose of the session was initially to address issues related to Hurricane Laura recovery and the state’s dwindling unemployment fund, however, it appears legislators may also decide to address some of the COVID-19 economic reopening policies and practices that were implemented by the Edwards administration back in the spring.
LFF will keep you up-to-date on this special session. If you aren’t sure who your legislators are, you can click the button below to find them.
