With just over a week until the end of 2020, the window for year-end giving – and any tax-deduction – is closing quickly. LFF has currently raised about 37% percent of its year-end goal, and we need to raise another $63,000 to ensure our programs are fully funded in 2021.

From lobbying legislation to protect Louisiana families to hosting prayer events to providing natural disaster relief, LFF is shepherding YOUR influence and generosity in Louisiana. We need your continued partnership in order to make the impact Louisiana needs in these complicated times.

After months of a ‘pandemic economy’ and financially challenged families, the Louisiana Legislature submitted a petition to revoke ‘powers’ of the governor’s authority during times of emergency. State statute authorizes this move, but in early court challenges, it was prematurely declared unconstitutional, effectively preserving all of the Governor’s emergency authority. This week, that changed when the Louisiana Supreme Court vacated that decision, saying that the lower court judge ruled too early on whether the move was constitutional.

The State Supreme Court did not rule on the merits of the case, but they are requiring the lower court to review whether statutes allow for this maneuver before they address constitutionality. Will the Louisiana Supreme Court limit the governor’s authority? Stay tuned.

The White House has released a list of pro-life accomplishments from the first Trump term, and it’s impressive. From ending funding for abortion, creating regulations to prevent funding Planned Parenthood, the Trump Administration has enumerated a philosophy which honors and protects life and has done so without shame or equivocation.

For more than 70 years, the National Prayer Breakfast has brought together thousands to pray over our nation’s leaders, invoking God’s power and authority even through the most secularized times. In 2021, the prayer breakfast will be held virtually for the first time.

This is both disappointing and also positive – a live-streamed prayer event could potentially allow tens of thousands of praying Americans to participate in this invitation-only event for the first time. If the National Prayer Breakfast Committee creates this opportunity, we will be sure to let you know.
