Dear Friends

A recent study found that men play a crucial role in a woman’s decision over abortion.

Of 1,000 American men whose partner had undergone an abortion, 74% said they were involved in making the decision.

Forty-two percent of those men indicated that they “strongly urged” or “suggested” that their partner have an abortion and 31% said they did not provide any advice.

This means that in order to influence abortion outcomes, we must focus on transforming the hearts and minds of men. “You can’t be serious about ending abortion unless you are serious about engaging men on the issue,” said president and CEO of Care Net Roland Warren.

Men must understand that the child is their responsibility too and they have been entrusted by God to care for that child. We must encourage men to fulfill their God-given duty and protect the most vulnerable.

Marriage is a sacred covenant designed by God to support well-being. Unsurprisingly, when we embrace God’s plan, we tend to have happier and healthier outcomes.

Studies show that married men and women are much happier than their single counterparts. Forty percent of men and 45% of women who are married without children say they are very happy. In comparison, only 22% of men and 24% of women who were never married say they are very happy.

Married people also tend to live longer, healthier lives than singles. A survey of over 120,000 American adults showed that married men tend to be healthier and live longer than those who were divorced or never married. Married women benefit from a sense of security and a safe environment to raise children, who provide both spouses with lasting fulfillment.

In order to promote a healthy, flourishing society, we must provide examples of committed marriages and encourage marriage through our culture and our laws.

LFF’s 2022 Marriage Hall of Fame will be announced soon!

Governor John Bel Edward continues the state of emergency, allowing significant temporary powers to continue.

Gov. Edwards’ emergency powers are set to end on February 16th. However, if extended again into March, it would mark two years of Louisiana’s “state of emergency.” Further, while JBE has refrained from sweeping statewide mask mandates over the last 50 days, he did institute mandates for state employees and state property.

Emergency powers were meant to be used during very rare and unusual circumstances. When these powers were introduced, it was “15 days to flatten the curve.” New disclosures are suggesting that COVID-inflated hospitalization numbers may be prolonging these “emergency powers.”

To continue Louisiana’s “state of emergency” would be illogical and perhaps even lawless. A dangerous precedent is set when public servants invoke emergency powers with limited accountability.

It's time to end Louisiana’s emergency order and insist that the Louisiana Department of Health count “COVID hospitalizations” honestly!

Friendsas we excitedly await the Supreme Court’s decision in the Dobbs case, which we believe is likely to overturn Roe v. Wade, let’s remain focused on doing everything we can to transform our culture. If Dobbs is overturned, Louisiana will be abortion-free, but pro-life ministry must reach both mothers and fathers in order for all life to be cherished. Let’s focus on empowering men to stand up for their children and protect the vulnerable and voiceless.

Please pray for a renewed respect in our country for marriage, the family, and the unborn.

As always, thank you for your continued prayers and support.

God bless!
