Dear Friends,

The "Parents Bill of Rights Act" or H.R. 5, is set to receive a floor vote in the U.S. House this week. The bill aims to provide more control to parents over their children's education, particularly around public transparency of curriculum content and outside resources, as well as parents' rights to participate in their children's education! The bill has 106 Republican sponsors.

The preamble to the Louisiana Children’s Code is clear that “parents have the paramount right to raise their children in accordance with their own values and traditions; that parents should make the decisions regarding where and with whom the child shall reside, the educational, moral, ethical, and religious training of the child, the medical, psychiatric, surgical, and preventive health care of the child, and the discipline of the child.”

Former University of Louisiana Monroe administrator and professor Julia Letlow has been chosen to lead the national effort because of her experience in assisting Louisiana parents achieve important education legislation in 2014. H.R. 5 is expected to pass in the Republican House. Its fate in the U.S. Senate, where Democrats hold a slim majority, remains uncertain!

Geaux, Julia, geaux!

In a significant turn of events, Republicans now hold a two-thirds supermajority in both the Louisiana House and Senate after Rep. Francis Thompson (Delhi), the state's longest-serving legislator, switched parties on Friday. Thompson has been a Democrat lawmaker for 50 years in northeast Louisiana. With the recent changing his party registration, he become the 70th Republican member in the state House. The GOP already had a supermajority in the state Senate. With this shift, Republicans (when they find agreement) can simply override John Bel Edwards.

Thompson cited differences with Democrat leadership on both the national and state levels, stating that they do not align with his values and principles as a Christian.

Louisiana GOP Chairman Louis Gurvich hailed the news of the new supermajority as "historic," and Thompson's decision to join the Republicans as "further evidence of Louisiana's yearning for conservative values and a rejection of Washington liberal politics!”

Friend,, the wave of spiritual renewal is still burning bright in Kentucky and beyond! An event held by Pulse ministry shortly after the conclusion of the Asbury University worship gathering drew around 3,500 people...with this cry on so many hearts, it moved mine as well!

Louisiana has scheduled a Capitol prayer event this Sunday. Learn more here!

It's wonderful when God’s people come together to seek His presence, experience the move of the Holy Spirit and make themselves available to His work in the Earth. In these trying times, God is working in our midst and calling us closer to Him.

I hope to see you Sunday!

In His Service,
