April 4th, 2023 Dear Friends, American history will be made today when Donald Trump appears in the Manhattan Criminal Courts building to face criminal charges. No former president has ever been charged with a crime, so there is no rulebook for the booking! Trump will be placed under arrest and informed of the charges against him, but he will not be put in handcuffs, placed in a jail cell, or subjected to a mug shot. He will then return to Florida where he will deliver comments tonight. Pray for peace in America and the rule of law in our “experiment in liberty!” Back home, we are thrilled to hear the news that Louisiana has made the Top Pro-Life States List! LFF clearly enumerated as our goal to make Louisiana abortion-free decades ago. We commend the Louisiana legislature's commitment to protecting innocent life. It’s clear the pro-life movement is gaining momentum and will not go unnoticed. Unfortunately, Governor John Bel Edwards has gone on record supporting rape and incest exceptions to Louisiana’s abortion prohibition. Measures to accomplish that nefarious objective have been filed for the 2023 legislative session starting the day after Resurrection Sunday! LFF will fight every step of the way to preserve intact Louisiana abortion prohibitions. Make plans to join LFF’s Legislative Briefing on April 18th at the Capitol Welcome Center to learn how you can loan your voice for the unborn. RSVP here!
In the wake of the school shootings in Nashville, Louisiana State Superintendent of Education Cade Brumley has called for harder perimeters at schools throughout the state. Brumley, an unashamed LFF ally, emphasized the necessity that Louisiana schools have strong security measures in place to protect students and faculty from potential threats. "We can no longer allow our schools to be soft targets to crime. We have got to harden our schools' perimeters." Brumley stated in a press conference earlier this week. The comments came as Louisiana prepares to spend $21 million to make public schools more secure by limiting campus access to a single point. The superintendent has urged school officials to review and update their safety plans and to work with local law enforcement to identify potential security vulnerabilities. Cade is correct. It is time to secure Louisiana schools against all threats, both inside and out!
We learned yesterday that the women’s college basketball final between LSU and Iowa, which featured loads of intense competition, numerous records, and a lopsided final score, was by far the most-watched women’s college basketball game in history! The Lady Tigers & Iowa drew a larger audience than any Major League Soccer game ever, the 2021 NBA Finals, and even the 2023 Sugar Bowl, averaging 9.9 million viewers on ESPN. LSU & Kim Mulkey are #1 in Louisiana hearts!
Friend,, it is truly inspiring to witness the compassionate actions of Christian groups in response to the recent devastating tornadoes that have affected communities across several states. The efforts of Samaritan's Purse and other organizations to send out relief teams to assist those impacted by the disaster are a true testament to the power of faith and the willingness of individuals to come together and support one another during difficult times. We pray for the victims of the storm and commend all those who have taken action to help those in need. Their selflessness and dedication to helping others is a reminder that even in the midst of tragedy, hope and kindness can still prevail.
