July 4, 2023

Dear Friends,

Happy 4th of July from Team LFF!

We live in a unique moment in history and hail from a country unlike any other which has seen its share of wonder-filled and difficult times. By God’s grace, the resiliency of the American system and its people, have equipped us to withstand trials and to remain hopeful.

Today, we pray you’ll have the opportunity to spend time with family and friends and celebrate this wonderful land the Lord has blessed us with. We pray you’ll also remember that it is God who gives us our freedom and the strength to persevere!

Governor Edwards kept his promise and vetoed three bills that would have protected children from the radical gender ideology being pushed by the Biden Administration.

House Bill 81 would have prohibited school staff from using the preferred names or pronouns without parental consent, House Bill 466 sought to restrict classroom conversations about “gender identity and sexual orientation” in public schools, and House Bill 648 prohibits gender-“re-assignment” healthcare for transgender youth. These common-sense measures for children’s safety and parental rights deserve your .

The good news? Louisiana lawmakers can still override JBE vetoes with an override session.

Please click here so we can connect you with the Louisiana Senate and urge them to protect the health, safety, and well-being of every child in our state.

According to a June 2023 issue brief released by the pro-abortion organization Advancing New Standards in Reproductive Health (ANSIRH), the number of facilities offering medication abortion in the U.S. has increased from 733 in 2020 to 773 in 2021 to 789 in 2022.

The brief also highlights that the proportion of facilities providing telehealth services for medication abortion, including the option to have abortion pills mailed, has risen from 7% in 2020 to 12% in 2021 and further to 31% in 2022. This includes both physical facilities and virtual clinics exclusively offering telehealth services.

Similarly, the research project #WeCount, conducted by the pro-abortion Society for Family Planning (SFP), published a report analyzing abortion numbers and related data for the nine months following the Dobbs decision (July 2022 to March 2023). While there is an overall decrease in abortions nationwide, the #WeCount June 2023 report indicates a significant rise in unregulated virtual sales of abortion pills, with an overall increase of more than 85% post-Dobbs.

The next step for the pro-life movement must be to combat widespread usage of the abortion pill. It is incredibly dangerous and harmful to mothers and lethal for their children.

Friends, despite the progressive ideology invading our culture, we still live in the most free and prosperous nation in the world! For that we are grateful, but must remain vigilant, too!

Our country was founded on a Christian idea-- virtuous freedom. And our Founders embedded Biblical principles into the fabric of our nation as they drafted the Declaration of Independence and declared that our rights come from God alone. Take a moment to thank God for the birth of our nation this Independence Day!

In His Service,
