In an effort to support veterans, the military, and their families, on August 10th the city of Baton Rouge will be designated as a Purple Heart City and Parish. Official signs at the gateways of Baton Rouge will be unveiled at a later event that further commemorates Purple Heart Families and Gold Star recipients. Purple Hearts are a military decoration given to servicemembers that are wounded or killed in battle. For many wounded, their lives are permanently changed due to their injuries. Their sacrifices for our great nation should not be forgotten! We support our troops. Thank a military veteran when you see them! Please keep our military members in your prayers, especially those serving overseas. |

COVID lockdowns and mandates turned parents off from public schools. “According to staggering enrollment data, parents appear to have had a case of back-to-school blues over public education since COVID’s onset in early 2020,” the Washington Stand reported. “In the past two years, a mass exodus of over 1.2 million students has left the public school system as parents seek alternative education routes, such as public charter schools, private schools, and homeschooling.” The pandemic presented a unique opportunity for parents to reconsider the best school choice for their children. Alternative education options are seeing surges in enrollment throughout the country, including in major cities. “Public school enrollment is plummeting, especially in the urban areas that abandoned children during the pandemic. Parents are flocking to alternative options, with charter school enrollment increasing by 7%, Catholic school enrollment increasing by the largest amount in 50 years, and parents exploring an array of homeschool options,” says Ginny Gentles, director of the Education Freedom Center at Independent Women’s Forum. |
