 | September 19, 2023 Dear Friends, Louisiana Family Forum’s Silver Anniversary Gala is only ten days away! This event will be one for the record books! We will host 50+ lawmakers for honors earned during the 2023 Legislative Session. To help bestow those honors and to unpack the history and impact of the ministry of LFF, our founder, Tony Perkins of the Family Research Council and the voice of American Family Association, Abe Hamilton, will reflect on the dramatic results of LFF. Join us on September 28th as we celebrate exemplary statesmanship on behalf of life, liberty, and limited government in Louisiana. Hein’s lawsuit outlines the struggle her parents' divorce caused in her early years, coupled with online grooming by predatory actors, severe mental health difficulties, and a four-year period of testosterone treatment which resulted in disruptions to her endocrine system, heart complications, deepening of her voice, bodily discomfort, and permanent disregulation of her reproductive systems. Children suffering from gender dysphoria need real help, not physical and psychological harm. The best way to prevent more children from suffering from the same abuse is to share the stories of de-transitioners such as Luka. | | | | Attorneys general from all 50 states and four territories jointly signed a letter last week calling on Congress to investigate the exploitation of children through the creation of Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM) by artificial intelligence (AI). “While internet crimes against children are already being actively prosecuted, we are concerned that AI is creating a new frontier for abuse that makes prosecution more difficult,” they wrote. “We are engaged in a race against time to protect the children of our country from the dangers of AI. Indeed, the proverbial walls of the city have already been breached. Now is the time to act.” Similarly, Rep. Bob Good (R-Va.) and 29 other members of Congress sent a letter to U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland urging him to take action against the proliferation of child sexual abuse materials (CSAM) generated through artificial intelligence (AI). The letter notes that in just one year, “the AI application had already been used to target over 100,000 individuals.” The letter also calls for the Department of Justice (DOJ) to partner with organizations and agencies, including the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, in order to "generate an effective action plan" aimed at addressing AI-generated CSAM. Artificial intelligence can easily be used for evil. As Christians, we need to ensure that human dignity is protected while powerful new technology emerges. | | | Friends, in less than one month, on October 14th, Louisiana residents will vote on Louisiana Constitutional Amendment #2, which simply requires state and local governments to meet the highest standard afforded by law as well as the least restrictive means, before places of worship and their subsidiaries are limited in movement or ministry, and never more than other organizations, businesses, or services when declaring emergency restrictions. This is a vital protection against government overreach. Please tell your friends and family to vote YES on Amendment 2 on October 14th. | | | Gene Mills President, Louisiana Family Forum P.S.
