Dear Friends

Between hurricanes, COVID lockdowns, and virtual learning, many of Louisiana’s students have fallen behind in the last few years. That’s why it was encouraging to learn that this year, Louisiana ranks first in the nation in terms of improvement in 4th grade reading scores and proficiency rates!

Dr. Cade Brumley, Louisiana State Superintendent, said the following: "I want to thank our teachers for their efforts through the pandemic and multiple hurricanes. This is not a ‘jump for joy’ moment because we still want to get better; however, they show our strategy for academic recovery and acceleration is working.”

Fifty-seven percent of Louisiana’s 4th graders either meet or exceed reading standards. There’s still much work to be done, but the improvement in 2022 is encouraging.

This week, Louisiana Congressman Mike Johnson introduced the "Stop the Sexualization of Children Act" which would stipulate that "no federal tax dollars should go to any federal, state or local government agencies, or private organizations that intentionally expose children under 10 years of age to sexually explicit material."

"HHS and DOD funding should be used to keep our country healthy and safe, not to stage burlesque shows for children," Congressman Johnson's office said.

Similarly, private organizations like Planned Parenthood would not be able to use federal dollars to fund any sexually explicit material or events. Lately (especially in the wake of Roe being overturned), Planned Parenthood has been pushing radical gender theory.

A new poll from the Trafalgar Group surveyed Americans on their beliefs regarding children obtaining “transgender” procedures.

“Do you believe underage minors should be required to wait until they are adults to use puberty blockers and undergo permanent sex change procedures?” the poll asked.

The results remind us that most Americans hold a common sense viewpoint on the issue, despite the media narrative saying otherwise, with 78.7% of respondents saying minors should be required to wait until they are adults to obtain the procedures.

Even 53.2% of Democrats agreed, and unsurprisingly, 96.8% of Republicans agreed as well.

The media does not paint an accurate picture of how Americans really feel on the issues of our moment!
