November 8, 2022 Dear Friends, Today is even more seismic than this past Saturday when LSU spanked Alabama in overtime and the Tigers' roar registered as an earthquake. Today is ELECTION DAY! Geaux vote as soon as you can! If you have any neighbors that might be struggling with a last-minute ballot decision, point them to LFF’s LouisianaVoterGuide.Org to cast an informed vote. Pray before you cast your vote for wisdom and discernment! Pray while you’re voting for a fraud-free and integrity-filled election! Pray after your vote for God to look with favor upon His people, and to restore our nation to one that respects and reveres all that heaven treasures. IJN Amen!
Louisiana Attorney General Jeff Landry secured an early endorsement for governor from the Louisiana Republican Party, minimizing the chances of a major primary contention. The endorsement is the earliest in recent memory for the Louisiana GOP, and it is not without controversy. Regardless, LFF prays for a future where God is honored, life is respected, liberty reigns and families flourish!
The Florida Board of Medicine and the Florida Board of Osteopathic Medicine banned puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones, and mutilation surgeries for minors. Florida Surgeon General Joseph Ladapo wrote in a June letter that “Florida must do more to protect children from politics-based medicine. Otherwise, children and adolescents in our state will continue to face a substantial risk of long-term harm.” Florida has set the example for the nation. Louisiana should follow the path and ban these harmful “treatments” and procedures on minors.
Yesterday we ventured into Jackson, Mississippi to honor Attorney General Lynn Fitch and Solicitor General Scott Stewart for their historic SCOTUS win in the Dobbs decision. We reflected on America's long journey to overturn Roe and the circumstance which brought each of them to this place in history. We presented an original word-art portrait by our lovely and talented LFF Board Member, Gail Lloyd, depicting an infant outline with Scripture to include Psalm 139:14: I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. Gail's Art can be seen here. Finally we invaded the home of Dr. Matt Friedeman (for conversation and coffee), the John M. Case Chair of Evangelism and Discipleship at Wesley Biblical Seminary and Pastor of Dayspring Community Church. Matt's ministry included over 20 years of sidewalk counseling at the abortion clinic in Jackson, Mississippi. Dr. Friedeman for your diligence and faithfulness across the decades is a true example of championing life. Check out the latest revision of Matt's book, Discipleship in the Home. It is a great resource as is this life-changing discipleship podcast.
Friend,, hopefully, on Friday, I’ll be writing to you about a potentially historic change in trajectory for our nation! God can do all things – things beyond our realm of imagination. Let us trust in Him as we vow to persevere as His servants, regardless of today’s outcome.
