Friends,

The spread of trans-politics in Louisiana is troubling. First there was the governor's effort to integrate boys’ and girls’ bathrooms, then women’s sports, now 120+ medical “professionals” are cashing in on erasing young lives through hormone manipulation & gender reassignment.

This raises the question of the priorities of the Louisiana government. A proposal to resolve the state’s homeowners and property insurance problem flew through the Special Session of the legislature, yet there was inaction on the dangers facing Louisiana’s children from trans-politics.

In a recent op-ed published in The Hayride, Walt Garlington said of LA legislators, “If they care more for their fellow Louisianans, young and old, than they do about receiving money and other perks from pro-LGBT corporate lobbyists, they will act.”

There is a chance for Louisiana to get on the right side of this issue and protect children.

The state must take a more proactive approach to protecting the health & wellbeing of young people, particularly when it comes to medical “treatments” which carry permanent, irreversible risks.

Record high sadness: The CDC released its most recent report on youth well-being—the first since the COVID-19 pandemic. The report highlights a concerning trend of worsening mental health among young people, especially teen girls. The data shows a significant increase in harmful experiences such as suicidal ideation, sexual violence, and forced sexual acts.

According to the report, nearly 1 in 3 girls seriously considered attempting suicide in the last year. Thats up 60% from the previous decade. The CDC also found that 1 in 5 had experienced sexual violence—up 20% since 2017.

The LGBT population were found to have the highest rate of mental health dissonance, with 70% of those involved in same-sex relationships having intense feelings of sadness or hopelessness.

Unfortunately, the CDC prescribes more LGBT sensitivity, inclusion, safe spaces, and gender alliances to address this issue. The report fails to address the root causes of mental illness; LGBT student populations face higher incidence of sexual violence, substance abuse and unhealthy relationships.

Louisiana Schools have an opportunity to be on the frontlines of addressing mental health crisis caused by woke indoctrination by returning education to its foundations: reading, writing and arithmetic!
