The 2022 Regular Session of the Louisiana Legislature kicked off on Monday with Governor Edwards presenting his agenda for this legislative session. He also announced that the 2- year emergency declaration dealing with COVID would finally expire and not be renewed. Many individuals and businesses have grown weary of these mandates and restrictions, and breathed a sigh of relief upon hearing the news.
Following the opening of the session, Louisiana Family Forum conducted its annual Legislative Briefing for pastors and ministry leaders. It was a blessing and an honor to host many from around our state. We welcomed our friends from the legislature as well as several statewide officials including Attorney General Jeff Landry, Treasurer John Schroeder, and Secretary of State Kyle Ardoin. Our state is in good hands under the direction of these capable leaders.
Dr. Voddie Baucham gave attendees a compelling charge, challenging each of us to do our part to put civil government in its proper place and bring the biblical worldview to the table without apology.
For those who were unable to attend, this is our Bills to Watch list for this session.
This week at the Capitol:
- HB 568 by Rep. Edmonds – amends the crime of adoption deception – PASSED HOUSE CRIMINAL JUSTICE COMMITTEE
- The legislature is also pondering an override of the governor's veto of proposed redistricting maps in Louisiana
Special thanks to everyone who was able to attend LFF's Legislative Briefing Tuesday. We prepared, we were challenged, and now we are ready to make Louisiana a better place!
That’s right. "Rachel" Levine, Biden's Assistant Secretary of Health and Human Services - a biological male - was one of USA TODAY’s choices for “Women of the Year.”
Once again, an award designated for a woman has gone to a biological male. The LGBTQ community attempts to replace females with biological males. Girls are slowly being erased from society but when anybody speaks up, they are labeled a "bigot."
These policies hurt women, and denounce God’s design and plan for men and women. As Believers, we must persuasively present Biblical values and shine a light on dark ideas.
SB 44 (Sen. Beth Mizell), the Fairness in Women's Sports Act, is a step in the right direction!
Will we witness the collapse of the dollar as the world’s reserve currency? Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell seems to think so. He opined that it's “possible to have more than one reserve currency.”
With the federal debt at $30 trillion and climbing, it comes as little surprise that we could be on the precipice of the dollar’s collapse. The Wall Street Journal reported that “Saudi Arabia is considering accepting yuan instead of dollars for oil sales to China” which would further cripple the dollar’s currency status and “dent [its] dominance of the global petroleum market.”
Needless to say, the collapse of the dollar would greatly harm America. Our standard of living is in jeopardy and we would lose our reputation as the leader of the modern world.
Unfortunately, our decline is largely self-inflicted. Inflation has devalued the dollar, which is no longer backed by gold, and our economy will likely struggle to ward off recession unless Biden's economic and energy policy are changed from the top-down!
Friends, Christian values are under-appreciated and our leaders continue to make unwise decisions that negatively impact the American people. But in the midst of our world's uncertainty, fear, and frustration, God is still on His throne, sovereignly orchestrating His Grace and Truth over the course of this world and our lives.
Please persist in your prayer for the people of Ukraine; they still need our help! Your contribution aids those who have been severely affected by this crisis. Consider donating to Samaritan's Purse charity, which has deployed a field hospital inside Ukraine, and Mercy Chefs, who are providing food and water to refugees.
