 | March 31st, 2023 Friends, Greetings this good Friday, before the real “Good Friday!” Unfortunately, too many today may miss the goodness embedded in this promise: This is the day the Lord has made, I will rejoice and be glad in it (Psalm 118:24). Why? Well perhaps the banking crisis, the border crisis, the national identity crisis, the inflation crisis, global economic uncertainty, the teen mental health crisis, Fentanyl overdoses, the buildup in the Middle East, China, & Russia…I could go on! Any one of these concerns could haunt the soul unless we are secure in the foundational promise of God’s Word. Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. (John 14:1-4) This song came into my feed recently and touched my soul – deeply. Perhaps it may touch yours as well! It’s Friday, but Sunday is coming! | | | | Along those lines, a recent study found Louisiana ranked as the second most stressed state in the nation. The study measured factors such as unemployment rates, housing affordability, and average work hours to determine the level of stress experienced by residents in each state. Only West Virginia was ranked worse than Louisiana. WalletHub analyst Jill Gonzales said “Louisiana was pretty bad in work-related stress, money-related stress, and health and safety-related stress. And of course, a lot of these are very interrelated.” Louisiana lawmakers must prioritize policy that supports Louisiana families! | | | | In a masterful display of congressional oversight, Louisiana Senator John Kennedy forced Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen to come clean about President Biden's budget proposal. During a Senate hearing, Kennedy's pointed questioning led Yellen to admit that the proposed tax hikes would generate only a fraction of the revenue needed to pay for Biden's massive spending plan. Kennedy's incisive inquiry exposed the Biden administration’s flawed approach to funding their sweeping agenda, prompting Yellen to acknowledge the truth that the American people deserve to hear. As Kennedy put it, "I think most Americans would be a little concerned that we have a secretary of the Treasury who can't give a straight answer to a straight question." This exchange showcases the critical power of power! As we navigate the complex issues facing this country, take heart that leaders like Senator Kennedy are fighting in D.C. on your behalf! | | | | After months of anticipation and inaction, the Department of Justice (DOJ) has finally arrested a suspect charged with the firebombing of LFF ally, Wisconsin Family Action! Wisconsin Family Action has been a tireless advocate for the protection of life, and the attack on their offices was not just an attack on the organization, but on the entire pro-life movement. The suspect, Hridindu Sankar Roychowdhury, 29, was apprehended and taken into custody by federal agents. The arrest follows a lengthy investigation by the DOJ and local law enforcement. If convicted, Roychowdhury faces a mandatory minimum penalty of five years and a maximum of 20 years in prison. “Violence is never an acceptable way for anyone to express their views or their disagreement,” said Assistant Director Robert R. Wells of the FBI’s Counterterrorism Division. LFF is pleased the FBI is finally recognizing its proper role of enforcement rather than politics! | | | Friends, NHL commissioner Gary Bettman has confirmed that the league is reconsidering its approach to Pride Nights, following several players and even entire teams refusing to wear Pride jerseys throughout the season, citing religious beliefs. The NHL has yet to make an official statement on the future of Pride Nights, but the comments from Bettman suggest that the league is taking these concerns seriously. When one Christian stands up, others are encouraged to follow suit. You never know how your action standing up for the faith may inspire a domino effect! | | | Gene Mills President Louisiana Family Forum P.S.
