There is much chatter regarding a pending vote on H.R. 8404, deceptively named the “Respect for Marriage Act.” This bill would require states to recognize ‘same-sex marriages’ from other states as well as codifying it into federal law. This bill is forcing members of Congress to commit to a position on same-sex marriage that may impact voting in November. Some rumors indicated the vote would take place Monday, though one Wisconsin senator indicated that the vote won’t happen until after midterms.

The big issue here is if this bill is passed, it could open the door for the federal government to enforce on everyone, including religious organizations, recognition of same-sex marriage, that effort, and all the politics which accompany. It is time to let your voice be heard!

Please call or write Senators Kennedy and Cassidy and make sure they understand your concerns and vote NO on the so-called “Respect for Marriage Act.” Encourage your friends, family, and church family to as well.

Pro-life founder of Live Action, Lila Rose, courageously defended pre-born life on the Dr. Phil Show this week. Mrs. Rose was belittled and mocked for speaking for the unborn, still she remained calm and sober-minded and presented the irrefutable truths about abortion. Let her composure be a lesson to all of us when confronted by people who may disagree with us regarding the topic of abortion and the sanctity of human life. (You can watch a clip here.)

Lila Rose knows that the principles of life won’t make her the most popular person in the room and that she will be in the minority for boldly protecting the unborn. Still, she forges on, simply presenting truth without emotion.

Dr. Phil and company presented extreme and rare hypotheticals, but Lila dismantled each argument with grace – and with compassion. Another clip is available here.

Senator Lindsay Graham introduced the “Protecting Pain-Capable Unborn Children From Late-Term Abortions” Act. This act would ban all abortion in the United States after 15 weeks of pregnancy. This doesn’t accomplish the goal of completely ending all abortion in the US, but it would put the country in line with most civilized European countries and many states. Below are the facts about babies at 15 weeks gestation in their mother’s womb.

By week 15 of pregnancy, babies do feel pain because pain receptors that connect from the spine to the brain have been formed at this point. The baby’s heart has already beat 16 million times. All major organs are formed and mostly functional. The skeleton and limbs have been formed and are movable. The baby is able to swallow and taste food, and they can even respond to touch.

Rep. Mike Kelly (Pennsylvania) has also introduced an even stronger measure in the House that would ban abortions after a fetal heartbeat can be detected—usually around six weeks gestation. This bill does even more to protect human life.

Allow the facts to speak! Preborn children should be protected in the womb from the moment of conception (as they are in Louisiana!), but banning abortions countrywide after week 15 is still a step in the right direction. We need to address the growing number of abortions in deep blue states and their extreme positions like taxpayer funding and allowing abortion up to the moment of birth. The respect life ethic extends to all.
