Louisiana Attorney General Jeff Landry signed a coalition letter along with 12 other state AGs to Merrick Garland and the DOJ in response to radical medical associations sending their own letter to the same recipient, demanding a crackdown on “disinformation” regarding child mutilation surgeries.

On October 3, the American Medical Association, the American Academy of Pediatrics, and the Children’s Hospital Association asked the DOJ to investigate the parties responsible for “coordinating, provoking and carrying out bomb threats and threats of personal violence.” They blamed “an intentional campaign of disinformation, where a few high-profile users on social media share false and misleading information.”

Landry and others, however, warn that the October 3 letter is an effort to crack down on critics of child mutilation surgeries and hospitals and clinics that abuse children in this way. In their response letter, the state AGs remind Garland that “Silencing critics of current gender dysphoria treatment practices for minors will not make children any safer or healthier. Instead, it will lead to bad decision-making and erode public confidence in both the federal government and the medical community.”

Jeff Sadow writes that reports suggest there will be a runoff between Tom Arceneaux (R) and Greg Tarver (D) for the Mayor of Shreveport.

Based on Sadow's analysis, the "numbers suggest Perkins, Chavez, and Fuller won’t make a runoff, and likely finishing in that order. Donors are investors with most putting money down only where they see likely success, and that marketplace indicates an Arceneaux-Tarver runoff with the former likely leading into that but the latter with the advantage in the runoff."

A lot of it boils down to who is financing the candidates. This will certainly be a race to keep an eye on!

In light of President Biden’s recent decision to pardon marijuana users in federal prison, The Washington Stand took a deep dive into the harms of marijuana. First, THC (which causes addiction) levels in marijuana have increased from 2% in the 1960s to as high as 95% presently. 

Furthermore, studies link marijuana usage to psychosis, schizophrenia, and severe mental illness. For example, “Emergency room cases of cannabis-induced psychosis increased 54% within three years after California legalized marijuana in 2016.”

Consequences of marijuana usage include: 

• depression and suicidal thoughts
• anxiety
• addiction (Cannabis Use Disorder) memory loss
• poor executive decision-making
• negative impacts on verbal learning
• lower IQ
• severe vomiting
• fetal development issues
• increased risk of heart attacks
• bronchitis, emphysema, and lung damage
• more ER visits and hospitalizations
• shorter life expectancy
• lower income
• worse relationships
• being more prone to suffer physical abuse
