December 2, 2022 Friends, On Tuesday night, the US Senate voted to advance the “Respect for Marriage Act” in its unamended form – with no meaningful protections for the free speech and the religious freedom of faith-filled Americans. Twelve Republican Senators voted for its passage. The bill will now return to the US House for a final vote - our last chance to amend religious protections into the reconciled version. Your voice and influence beyond Louisiana territories are needed now or it will likely pass, as it already did over the summer. Click here to tell your US House members to vote NO on the (Dis)Respect for Marriage Act. As for Louisiana: early voting is now underway through December 3. There are important constitutional amendments and elections on the ballot for the election on December 10th. Go to LFF’s LouisianaVoterGuide.Org to see your ballot. Then make a plan and bring your friends and family to the polls!
Recently, a federal court ruled against a Biden mandate that would have forced health care workers to participate in gender "reassignment" surgeries against their will. This week the Biden administration declined to appeal the court ruling, meaning this win is final! Luke Goodrich of Becket Law said, “[t]he medical professionals that challenged the mandate happily serve all patients, regardless of sex or gender identity. But they can’t perform these procedures, which are widely disputed in the medical community.” This is a reminder that when we push back and engage on, liberty wins!
Recently, a teacher at University Elementary in Shreveport was exposed for radical sexual politics in the classroom. The teacher posted on Instagram: "The kids are all confused and asking why I have a mustache if I’m a girl, if I’m Mr. Banghart now, why am I trying to look like a boy, etc. I’m just ignoring these questions/redirecting, so I don’t get in trouble." "Though some of the reactions are hurtful (I’m not mad- they’re kids and don’t mean harm), I’m mostly just enjoying the confusion about ‘what’ I am." This kind of gender activism is abusive to children. Parents in Shreveport - speak out!
